New Yorkin alue oli alunperin erilaisten Algonquiania ja Iroquoeesia puhuvien natiivien asuttama.
Vuonna 1609 tutkimusmatkailija Henry Hudson saapui nykyisen Hudson joen alueelle ja valtasi alueen, mutta myi Manhattanin hollantilaisille minne hollantilaiset perustivat New Amsterdamin.

City is well know of it's colorful history of being a port to the promise land for immigrants.

New York City maratoni. Halusimme päästä kadun yli ja meidän piti loppujen lopuksi mennä metrolla yksi pysäkin väli, että pääsimme tien yli.
NewYork City maratoni on maailman suurin juoksutapahtuma. Toiset ottavat sen enemmän tosissaan kuin toiset.Tänä vuonna maalilinjan ylitti 50 300 juoksijaa. Vanhin osallistuja 86 vuotias nainen ei sitten enää ikinä herännytkään juoksun jälkeiseltä levolta, muutaman tunnin päästä ylitettyään maalilinjan.

We ran into New York City marathon. We were force to ride one stop with sub so we could go across the street.
This marathon is the biggest running event in the world. Some are taking it more serious than others. This year 50 300 runners crossed the finish line. The oldest contestant 86 years old lady died after couple of hours after completing her run.

Manhattanin keskikaupungilla sijaitseva 103 kerroksinen pilvenpirtäjä.
Se sai nimensä New Yorkin osavaltion lempinimestä Empire State ja oli valmistumisvuodestansa 1931 vuoteen 1970 maailman korkein rakennus.
Uskomattoman kaunis Art Deco- tyylisuunnan helmi. Käsityön laatu, viimeistäkin yksityiskohtaa myöten, on hämmentävän viimeisteltyä.
Rakennus on luokiteltu yhdeksi modernin maailman setsemästä ihmeestä.
Rakennuksen historia sisältää monia kummallisuuksia, kuten lentokoneen törmäyksen jolloin kuoli 14 ihmistä, mutta rakennuksen hissityttö selvisi hengissä vaikka hissi putosi hissikuilussa 72 kerrosta alaspäin. Tälläkin hetkellä tämä henkilö pitää hallussaan tätä kummallista Guinness ennätystä.

Empire State Building
103 story high skyscraper is located in Midtown Manhattan.
It got it's name through nickname of the State of New York, Empire State and it was the tallest building in the world from 1931 until 1970.
Extremely beautiful example of an Art Deco- style building. The quality of handcraft, even in smallest details, is unreal precise.
Building is consider to be one of the seven wonders of the modern world.
Buildings history holds many stories; like a crash an airplane. Fourteen people were killed in that crash but elevator operator survived when the elevator crashed down 72 floors. This person holds this odd Guinness World Record for the longest survived elevator fall recorded.

Originally park was opened in year 1857, but soon New York City organized a design competition to improve and expand the park. Designers Fredrick Law Olmstad and Calvert Vaux won the competition and park was completed in 1873.
Park has maintain it's form and size but the content has grown over the years quite radically. Now days you can do rock climbing and canoeing, go to the zoo and so on.

Hhahah...Nuo ajat ovat kaukana takanapäin.

Statue of Liberty- Liberty Enlightening the World. The statue, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was a gift to the United States from the people of France in year 1886.
The statue is robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. the statue is a icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants coming from abroad.
Hhahahahahah...those days are long gone!!
Symbol or not the sculpture it self was beautiful, massive, realistic and from it you can see that it must has required lot of skilled craftsmen.
High Line. Aikanaan rautatiet nostettiin katutason yläpuolelle turvallisuussyistä. Myöhemmin rekat korvasivat junaliikenteen ja nostetut tasot rappioituivat. Nyt näille tasoille on avattu katettuja puistolämpäreitä ja näyttelytilaa taiteelle.

High Line. There was a time when trains were elevated above street level for safety reasons. Later on trains were replaced by interstate trucks and those lanes started to decade. Now they have build parks on to them and there are nice exhibition spaces for art.
